The image of Krishna - Vishnu

Vishnu brought from Dharmasala and under display along side the Gapinatha group yet is one of the unique acquisitions of the Odisha State Museum. Two such mages have been reported from Puri town ;Jagannatha Ballava Motha and Sadbhuja Galiranga Matha). The image in our collection represents the transition form of Krishna-Vishnu cult in which the image though stands in tribhanga pose yet displays in its four hands, sankho and chakra in upper two and playing the flute in the lower two. Figures of Dasavatara are depicted all round the figure. Below the lotus pedestal are cows and calves and just above it the depiction of Anantasayi Visnu. Four Gopis are standing on the sides. The Kadamba tree full of leaves is shown at the background as usual.
