Chateswar temple inscription

The original inscription belonging to the time of Ananga Bhima Deva Ill, is found at present preserved in the Chateswar temple of Salepur area. We have collected a plaster cast of the inscription only. The language of the inscription is Sanskrit and composition in verses of various metres. The style is highly ornate. The inscription begins with a praise to the ocean from which the moon is born then in a conventional way to the Ganga king descending from the moon. We get the chronological position of Ganga kings beginning from Anantavarma Chodagangadeva to Anangabhimadeva and his minister Visnu himself who built the temple of Chateswar.
