Bronzes of Banpur form are the prize collection of the Museum. These bronzes are the archaeological treasurer, at Odisha State Museum. A separate section suffixing the Archeology gallery should be planned. Bronzes now stored in central store of Odisha State Museum in this section add an extra antique glamour to the collection. Discovered at Banpur in the district of Puri are very valuable specimens of ancient Indian art. More than one hundred-thirty in number this huge hoard of bronzes occupy prominent place for their exquisite details and graceful mouldings. These bronze statues of Buddhist, Jaina an6 Brahmanical panthear belonging to 10th/11th century A.D. speak the glory of Orissan plastic art. The representative specimens of this group E re Avalokitesvaras, Taras, Bodhisatvas, Vajrasatvas Manjusri, Vajra Dharas, Chundas, Amba anc Mahismardini etc.
